Five-Year Anniversary Celebration and Benefit Concert

Led by Alexander Kahn, assistant conductor of the Santa Rosa Symphony and conductor of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony, the strings of the NVCO join forces with woodwinds and French horn in the historic Jarvis Conservatory theater. Featured will be Ralph Vaughan Williams’ ravishing violin piece The Lark Ascending, performed by violin wunderkind Samuel Strong. Music by Britten, Holst, and Elgar rounds out the afternoon, which continues with a wine and finger-food reception serenaded by young musicians of the Napa Valley Youth Symphony. Classical Music for Kids

A love of classical music can develop at any age, and the Napa Valley Chamber Orchestra wants the next generation to appreciate this timeless art. In order to acquaint children with classical music and hopefully ignite a love that could create the next generation of musicians, we have developed the “Wild Symphony” program. Written by Dan Brown, who is a concert level pianist as well as the acclaimed author of The Da Vinci Code, Wild Symphony details the adventures of Maestro Mouse and his companions from the animal kingdom. Each animal has a unique poem and song, and members of the Orchestra play these songs while the children watch a slide show showing pages from the storybook.

Wild Symphony is performed in schools, libraries, and other venues across the Napa Valley. Please note, performances in schools are only open to current students and faculty of the institution. All performances of the program in the community are free to attend and open to all ages. Check our events page for any upcoming opportunities to attend.
